Die-cut Gift Card Holder

This was a free make and take from Archiver's.  I enjoyed it so much that I have made several more at home.

Here's what you will need:

  • Die-cut machine
  • Sizzix gift card box die-cut
  • Decorative paper
  • Thin cardboard
  • Glue stick
  • 4 brads
  • Ribbon
  • Two magnets or velcro.
  • Button

Here's how you make it:

  • Cut cardboard and paper with die-cut.
  • Bend cardboard and paper at folds to make them more flexible
  • Glue paper on to cardboard.  (I used a glue stick but the demonstrator at Archiver's used a tape runner.  I think glue keeps edges attached better than tape.)
  • Fold box into the box shape and attach brads.  (It is optional to attach the bottom brads to both layers of card board.  If you can't fit your hands into box then only put the lower brads through the outer cardboard for decoration.  It will still hold fine.)

  • Put ribbon through the die-cut handle and glue ribbon ends to inside of box with glue stick or tacky glue.

  • Attach magnet or velcro to the inside of box to hold it shut.  Do not let magnets touch until glue dries or they will pull off of box.
  • Decorate with flower (part of the die-cut) using pop dot.  Then add button on top of flower, or decorate as you chose.

You may chose to leave the flower white (if using white cardboard) or cover it with paper.

For the above box I replaced the button with a brad, and I put ribbon underneath flower.

Great as a thank you gift for a pet sitter.  Put gift card inside.  Or give it to a dog lover with doggie treats inside
